ARTIST STATEMENT

 

Hi, I'm Becky Olsen, a Web and Graphic Designer for small business living and working in Rochester NY. Since graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1998 with a fine arts degree in graphic design I've been working in the field full-time.

 

November of 2006 I left my regular job to work from home as a freelance graphic designer and web designer. This period of my life as been very rewarding and has taught me many lessons. First, I needed to learn how to communicate the value of what I do. Second, learn to believe in myself that I can execute my design ideas with out the constant supervision of a creative director. Third, I had to get out from behind the computer and talk to people!

 

After overcomming those bumps in the road my career has been the most enjoyable it's ever been. This web site is dedicated to those years.

 

Currently I'm enrolled in a masters of fine art degree program for web design and new media. Every semester I expand my knowledge in web programming and computer languages. As I learn new things this web site will be updated to reflect my current knowledge.

TIPS

When communicating with your designer, don't hold back. We are taught to take criticism well, and at Design Chef we thrive off of feedback from our clients. Our most successful project have come from clients who involve themselves heavily in the design process.
